NOPD Makes Two Arrests in Eighth District for Illegal Possession of Firearms

The NOPD has arrested two suspects on September 3, 2018 in the Eighth District after both were found to be in illegal possession of firearms.

At or about 2:23 a.m., officers with the Eighth District’s Bourbon Promenade Unit were on foot patrol when they were flagged down by the doorman of a bar in the 700 block of Bourbon Street. The doorman told officers that two black male subjects were seen outside of the bar in possession of firearms.

The Bourbon Promenade Officers, assisted by NOPD Mounted Unit officers, apprehended both Andre Roche (DOB: 06-17-1998) and Malik Mackyeon (DOB: 10-01-1998) in the area. Roche was apprehended on Toulouse Street near Bourbon Street, while Mackyeon was apprehended at the intersection of Bourbon and Toulouse streets.  Both subjects were found to be in possession of loaded firearms without proper permitting.

Officers relocated the subjects to the Eighth District station and later to the Orleans Parish Justice Center, where each was booked with illegal possession of a firearm.

Booking photos of Roche and Mackyeon were not available.

Anyone with additional information on these incidents is asked to contact NOPD Eighth District detectives at 504-658-6080 or call anonymously to Crimestoppers at 504-822-1111 or toll-free at 1-877-903-STOP.
