NOPD Investigating Fatal Vehicle Crash in Fifth District

The NOPD is investigating a fatal vehicle crash that occurred this evening (September 5, 2018) at the intersection of North Villere Street and St. Roch Avenue.

At about 8:14 p.m., NOPD Fifth District officers responded to a call of a vehicle crash with injury at the intersection. Upon arrival and investigation, officers determined that a motor scooter traveling northbound on St. Roch Avenue collided with a Hyundai Santa Fe SUV traveling westbound on North Villere Street.

The male driver of the scooter was pronounced dead at the scene. The three occupants of the Hyundai - two males and a female - refused EMS treatment at the scene.

No additonal information is available at this time, including any possible charges or citations. The Orleans Parish Coroner's Office will determine official cause of death of the decedent and will release the name upon completion of autopsy and notification of family.

Traffic Fatality Investigator Collin Munster is in charge of the ongoing investigation and can be reached at 504-658-6205 with any information regarding this incident.
