The NOPD is investigating a traffic fatality that occurred in the 13400 block of North Nemours Street.
This morning, September 15, 2018, around 7:20 a.m., Seventh District officers received a call regarding a single vehicle accident in the area. Through the course of the investigation, traffic detectives were able to determine that an unidentified adult male was driving westbound on North Nemours Street. At this time, and for reasons unknown the driver lost control, veered off the roadway and struck a large tree in the grassy area.
The driver died on the scene. There were no passengers in the vehicle.
Blood and alcohol tests are pending and the investigation is ongoing.
No further information is available at this time. The Orleans Parish Coroner's Office will determine the official cause of death and release the victim's name, upon completion of autopsy and notification of family.
