NOPD Investigates Fatal Shooting on Orleans Avenue

The NOPD is investigating a fatal shooting in the 1900 block of Orleans Avenue, that left one dead and one injured.

First District Officers responded to a call of an aggravated battery by shooting in the area, just after 7:00 p.m. Upon arrival, officers discovered two adult male victims suffering from gunshot wounds.

One of the victims sustained multiple gunshot wounds and was pronounced dead on scene by EMS. The second victim sustained a gunshot wound to the foot and was transported to an area hospital to receive treatment for his injuries.

Investigation into the incident is ongoing. The Orleans Parish Coroner's Office will determine the official cause of death and release the victim's name, upon completion of an autopsy and notification of family.
