NOPD Arrests Suspect in Multiple Shoplifting Incidents in Seventh District

The NOPD has arrested Craig Ferdinand (DOB: 09-24-1984) on Thursday, September 6, 2018 in connection with multiple shoplifting incidents.

At approximately 10:44 a.m., Ferdinand reportedly entered the Walgreens store in the 7400 block of Read Boulevard. Ferdinand then allegedly began filling two shopping bags with personal hygiene items, such as body wash, in plain view of employees. As Ferdinand allegedly was leaving the business, he was spotted by an NOPD Seventh District officer who attempted to apprehend him. Ferdinand reportedly fled from the officer and was apprehended a short distance away.

While fleeing from the officer, Ferdinand ran through the parking lot of another nearby business. An employee there positively identified Ferdinand as the suspect who allegedly shoplifted from there earlier in the day.

Further investigation led detectives to determine that Ferdinand was allegedly responsible for four shoplifting incidents in total – the two aforementioned instances on September 6, as well as incidents on June 23 and June 30, 2018 in the 11900 block of North I-10 Service Road.

Ferdinand was arrested and booked into the Orleans Parish Sheriff’s Office for four counts of theft by shoplifting and one count of resisting an officer.

Anyone with information on these incidents is asked to contact NOPD Seventh District detectives at 504-658-6070.
