The NOPD Second District arrested Demetrious Twymon (DOB: 5-8-77) on Friday (Sept. 22) for illegally carrying a weapon while in possession of narcotics and for possession of a schedule I controlled dangerous substance.
At about 10:32 p.m., Second District officers conducted a traffic stop at the intersection of Washington Avenue and South White Street when they observed a red Mercedez Benz operating with a dark-tinted license plate cover and blacked out windows.
While speaking with the occupants, officers then detected a strong odor of marijuana coming from the vehicle. As the investigation progressed, officers located a glass jar containing vegetable matter consistent with marijuana, clear plastic bags, a digital scale, a metal based grinding device and $150 in cash. Officers also located a firearm behind the passenger seat of the vehicle.
The driver of the vehicle, identified as Demetrius Twymon, was arrested and booked accordingly.
