NOPD Investigates Pedestrian Struck on St. Claude & Alabo Street

The NOPD is investigating a fatal accident involving a pedestrian that occurred on September 3, 2017 at the intersection of St. Claude and Alabo Street.

At approximately 12:21 a.m., NOPD responded to the scene of a pedestrian struck by a single vehicle. Through the course of the investigation, detectives learned that the driver of a Ford F-150 was traveling in the left lane on St. Claude Avenue when a pedestrian step into his lane of travel from the grassy median area.  The pedestrian was then struck and severely injured in the crash. 

He was transported to University hospital for treatment where he later died as a result of his injuries.  The driver remained on the scene for police and was transported to the DWI Testing Facility for a toxicology test.  The driver’s BAC was well below the legal limit of .080g%.  However, the investigation is still ongoing.

No further information is available at this time. The Orleans Parish Coroner's Office will determine official cause of death and release the deceased victim's name, upon completion of autopsy.
