NOPD Arrests Suspect on Weapon, Drug Charges in First District

On October 5, 2023, the NOPD arrested Reginald Johnson (black male, DOB: 06-13-1982) on gun and narcotics possession charges at the intersection of Ulloa and South Pierce streets. The arrest comes as part of continued enforcement action in response to recent narcotics-related gun violence in the area.

At about 11:00 a.m. on October 5, NOPD First District officers and detectives located Johnson, who had an active arrest warrant on narcotics- and weapon-related charges for an incident on October 3 at the same location. Johnson was apprehended without incident.

During the arrest, a search of Johnson revealed cash, MDMA pills commonly referred to as “ecstasy”, and other distribution-related items on his person.

Johnson was booked into the Orleans Parish Justice Center on the existing warrant for illegal carrying of a firearm, illegal carrying of a firearm while in possession of narcotics and distribution of cocaine with intent to distribute. He was also booked with possession of MDMA (ecstasy) with intent to distribute, based on the possession at the time of his arrest.

All persons are presumed innocent until proven guilty.

Anyone with additional information on this or any other related incident in this area is urged to contact NOPD First District officers at 504-658-6010.
