NOPD Arrests Suspect in Homicide Investigation

The NOPD has booked Kenneth Saulsberry (black male, DOB: 02-19-2003) in the investigation of a homicide that occurred on July 7, 2023, in the 4300 block of North Villere Street.

According to investigators, NOPD Fifth District officers responded to a call of a shooting on July 7 at the location. Upon their arrival, officers located a 17-year-old juvenile female suffering from apparent gunshot wounds to her body. The victim was pronounced deceased on scene.

Through investigation, NOPD Homicide Section detectives developed and positively identified Saulsberry as the perpetrator in this incident. Detectives then obtained an arrest warrant for Saulsberry on one count of second-degree murder.

This is the second homicide incident to which detectives have linked Saulsberry in recent days. On October 24, NOPD Homicide Section detectives booked Saulsberry on a second-degree murder charge in connection with a February 28 homicide at the intersection of Lake Forest Boulevard and Bundy Road. Saulsberry was already incarcerated in the Orleans Parish Justice Center, having been initially booked in connection with an unrelated shooting incident that occurred on April 4 in the 3500 block of Roger Williams Street.

On October 30, Saulsberry was re-booked on the additional second-degree murder charge in the North Villere Street incident.

All persons are presumed innocent until proven guilty.

Anyone with additional information on this incident is urged to contact NOPD Homicide Section detectives at 504-658-5300. Those wishing to report information anonymously can do so by calling Crimestoppers of Greater New Orleans at 504-822-1111 or toll-free at 1-877-903-STOP.
