On October 24, 2023, members of the NOPD, FBI and Louisiana State Police arrested Ahmad Seals (black male, DOB: 06-09-2005) and a 16-year-old juvenile black male in the ongoing investigation of two armed carjacking incidents that occurred on October 16, 2023, in the Sixth District.
On the evening of October 16, NOPD Sixth District officers responded to two reported armed carjackings that were committed within a 20-minute period.
The incidents occurred in the 1000 block of Race Street and in the 1800 block of Carondelet Street. No injuries were reported in either incident. During investigation into these incidents, Sixth District detectives determined both incidents to have been committed by the same unknown black male suspects.
Through investigation, detectives developed Seals and the juvenile male as suspects in this investigation and obtained arrest warrants.
Officers of the NOPD’s Sixth and Second districts and Special Operations Division, along with the FBI and Louisiana State Police, executed multiple search warrants in connection with this investigation on Tuesday October 24, 2023. Both subjects were located and arrested without incident.
The 16-year-old black male was arrested on three counts of armed robbery with a firearm and one count of juvenile in illegal possession of a firearm and for possessing a handgun during the commission of a crime of violence.
Seals was arrested on three counts of principal to armed robbery.
All persons are presumed innocent until proven guilty.
