The NOPD is investigating a fatal multi-vehicle crash that occurred this morning (October 22, 2022) on Interstate 10 West near exit 231A and left one person dead and three injured.
At about 3:43 a.m., NOPD Third District officers responded to a call of a vehicle crash at the location. Upon arrival and further investigation, officers determined a total of five vehicles to have been involved in two crashes.
Detectives determined that a female driver was traveling westbound on Interstate to when her vehicle was struck from behind by a pickup truck. The impact caused the victim’s vehicle to spin and come to rest near the shoulder of the road. The victim had exited her vehicle to check on damages when she was apparently struck by another passing vehicle. The victim was declared deceased at the scene. Three other vehicles were also involved in the crash, with three subjects being transported via EMS to a local hospital for treatment.
The Orleans Parish Coroner will officially identify the decedent upon completion of autopsy and notification of family.
