The NOPD is investigating a homicide that occurred this evening (October 26, 2022), in the 4700 block of Francisco Verrett Drive that left an adult female dead.

At about 9:06 p.m., NOPD Seventh District officers responded to a call of shots fired in the area. While investigating the scene, officers learned that an adult female gunshot wound victim had arrived at a local hospital via private conveyance. Detectives determined that the victim had sustained the injury at the listed location. The victim was later declared deceased at the hospital.

Investigators are currently in the process of gathering evidence and information to identify the person(s) responsible for this incident, as well as a motive. No additional details are currently available.

The Orleans Parish Coroner’s Office will identify the victim and determine official cause of death upon completion of autopsy and notification of family.
