NOPD is investigating a fatal shooting that claimed the life of an adult female in the 7200 block of Bunker Hill Road.
Seventh District officers responded to a call of an aggravated battery by shooting at or around 12:30 a.m. on October 6, 2018. Upon arrival, officers discovered one female victim suffering from an apparent gunshot wound to the chest. The victim was transported to an area hospital, where she later died.
Investigators are currently in the process of gathering evidence and information to identify the person(s) responsible for this incident, as well as a motive.
No further information is available at this time. The Orleans Parish Coroner's Office will determine an official cause of death and release the victim's name, upon completion of autopsy and notification of family.
