Suspect Sought in Armed Carjacking on Dogwood Drive

The NOPD is seeking assistance from the public in locating and identifying a suspect seen on surveillance in connection with an armed carjacking that occurred in the 7800 block of Dogwood Drive on October 3, 2017.

At about 6:45 p.m., an armed subject reportedly pointed a large revolver at an elderly female victim in the area and demanded her vehicle keys. The suspect was reported to have loudly shouted his commands to the victim before taking the keys and fleeing in the victim’s gray 2015 Ford Focus.

Louisiana State Police spotted the vehicle on October 6 in the Fourth District and attempted to stop the vehicle. The vehicle refused to stop and a chase ensued, after which the suspect abandoned the vehicle in the 2300 block of Amazon Street and fled on foot. Pictures of the subject taken from surveillance video are included with this release.

Anyone with information regarding this incident or the whereabouts of the pictured subject is asked to contact Seventh District detectives at 504-658-6070. Citizens with information that can help solve crimes are asked to call Crimestoppers at 504-822-1111 or toll-free at 1-877-903-STOP.
