Suspect Identified in Homicide on Marais Street

The NOPD has obtained an arrest warrant for Chris Hughes (DOB: 02-02-1999) in connection with the homicide of Raheem Alexander that occurred in the 2500 block of Marais Street on September 25, 2017.

At around 3 a.m., Fifth District officers responded to an aggravated battery by shooting at the location. Once they arrived on scene, they observed an unknown male victim later identified as Alexander lying in the road suffering from gunshot wounds. He was pronounced dead on scene by EMS. 

During the course of investigation, detectives were able to develop Hughes as a suspect and to secure an arrest warrant for Hughes on a charge of second degree murder.
