Camera Captures Suspect Who Robbed Rite Aid on St. Charles Avenue

The NOPD needs the public’s assistance in identifying and locating an armed robbery suspect.

 

On September 29, 2016, at approximately 8:45 p.m., an unknown black male was observed entering the Rite Aid drugstore in the 7100 block of St. Charles Avenue. He picked up a pair of scissors and placed them in his backpack, then walked toward the front door of the store where he retrieved the scissors from the backpack and pushed the cashier behind the counter. He forced the cashier to open both cash registers and he took the money from both registers before fleeing the store.

Armed Robbery

In Louisiana, an armed robbery conviction requires the offender to be imprisoned at hard labor for 10 – 99 years, without benefit of parole, probation, or suspension of sentence. When a firearm is used in the commission of the crime, the offender will be imprisoned for an additional 5 years that will be served consecutively to the original sentence.
