The NOPD is investigating a murder that occurred today in the 3100 block of Industry Street.
At about 1:37 p.m., NOPD Fifth District officers responded to a call of a vehicle accident with injury in the area. Upon arrival, officers discovered a pickup truck had struck an electrical pole and was engulfed in flames, with New Orleans Fire Department members working to extinguish the fire. Once the fire was extinguished, investigators discovered the body of an unknown victim in the driver's seat. Based on evidence at the scene, investigators classified the incident as a homicide.
Investigation into the incident is ongoing. No further information is available at this time. The Orleans Parish Coroner's Office will determine official cause of death and release the victim's name, upon completion of autopsy and notification of family.
