The NOPD is investigating a traffic fatality that occurred this evening (November 10, 2023) at the intersection of Chef Menteur Highway and Laine Avenue that left one person dead.
At about 6:47 p.m., NOPD Seventh District officers responded to a call of a pedestrian struck at the location. Upon arrival, officers discovered an unresponsive adult male lying in the roadway. The victim was declared deceased on scene.
Through investigation, it was determined that the driver of a white Buick SUV was traveling westbound on Chef Menteur Highway when the pedestrian walked into the westbound lanes of Chef Menteur Highway and was struck.
The driver or the vehicle remained on scene and is cooperating with the investigation.
The Orleans Parish Coroner will officially identify the victim in this incident upon completion of autopsy and notification of family.
