The NOPD is investigating a homicide that occurred on November 22, 2023, in the 800 block of Canal Street and left one person dead.
At about 7:58 p.m., NOPD Eighth District officers responded to a call of a shot person at the location. Upon arrival, officers located an adult male gunshot wound victim. The victim was transported via EMS to a local hospital, where he was later declared deceased.
Investigators are currently in the process of gathering evidence and information to identify the person(s) responsible for this incident, as well as a motive. No additional details are currently available.
The Orleans Parish Coroner’s Office will identify the victim and official cause of death upon completion of autopsy and notification of family.
