Friday, November 10, 2023, the New Orleans Police Department held a SWAT graduation consisting of 15 NOPD Officers who recently completed a four-week course of specialized training.
NOPD Officers are recruited, selected, trained, and equipped to resolve critical incidents involving a threat to public safety.
The NOPD’s SWAT team provides a ready response to crisis situations that require a level of specified expertise beyond the scope or capability of patrol officers.
This includes serving high-risk warrants for crimes ranging from terrorism to murder and narcotics as well as hostage situations.
SWAT is also assigned to the high crime areas of the city on proactive patrol.
