NOPD VOWS, U.S. Marshals Arrest Suspect in Homicide Investigation

Today (November 30, 20220, members of the NOPD’s Violent Offender Warrant Squad and the U.S. Marshals arrested Earl Sylvester (black male, DOB: 11-13-1985) in the investigation of a homicide that occurred on October 9, 2022, in the 1900 block of Port Street.

At about 6:25 p.m. on October 9, NOPD Fifth District officers responded to a call of a male shooting victim arriving at a business in the 1800 block of Almonaster Avenue. The victim was transported via EMS to a local hospital, where he was later declared deceased. Upon further investigation, the location of occurrence was determined to be the 1900 block of Port Street.

Through investigation, NOPD Homicide Unit detectives developed and positively identified Sylvester as the perpetrator in this incident and obtained an arrest warrant on one count of second-degree murder.

Sylvester was booked accordingly into the Orleans Parish Justice Center.

All persons are presumed innocent until proven guilty.
