New Orleans - The NOPD is investigating a traffic fatality that occurred on November 7, 2020 on the I-10 West on-ramp off South Claiborne Avenue.
At around 2:11 a.m., NOPD First District officers responded to the call of a vehicle crash at the location. Upon arrival they discovered the wreckage of a Jeep Wrangler, and the body of its 50-year-old male driver.
The initial investigation has revealed that the victim was heading eastbound on U.S. 90 and merging onto the I-10 East on-ramp when, for reason undetermined, he lost control of his vehicle and went over the guardrails. His vehicle landed and flipped onto the I-10 West on-ramp located on the lower level of the highway. The victim suffered injuries and died on scene.
The Orleans Parish Coroner’s Office will identify the victim after completion of an autopsy and notification of family.
