NOPD Investigating Homicide in Seventh District

The NOPD is investigating a homicide that occurred during the evening hours on October 31, 2020 at the intersection of Hayne and Read boulevards that left one victim dead and two injured.

At about 10:53 p.m., NOPD Seventh District detectives responded to a reported aggravated battery by shooting at the location. Upon arrival, officers located four male victims at the scene near a crashed vehicle. One of the male victims was found unresponsive inside of the vehicle with an apparent gunshot wound(s) and was declared deceased at the scene. Two victims were found with apparent gunshot wounds and were transported via EMS to a local hospital for treatment. The fourth victim did not suffer any injuries.

Investigators are currently in the process of gathering evidence and information to identify the person(s) responsible for this incident, as well as a motive. No additional details are currently available.

The Orleans Parish Coroner’s Office will identify the victim and official cause of death upon completion of autopsy and notification of family.
