NOPD Arrests Suspect in Fifth District Shooting

The NOPD has arrested Monterio Thomas (DOB: 12-26-1992) in the investigation of an aggravated battery by shooting. The incident occurred yesterday, November 19, in the 3000 block of Edith Weston Street.

 

At about 7:16 a.m., the female victim and Thomas were involved in a verbal altercation. At which time, Thomas became upset, produced a firearm and shot the victim in the abdomen area. Thomas then called the police, via 911 and stated that an unknown suspect shot the victim inside the residence.

 

Through investigation, Thomas was later determined to be the perpetrator of the shooting.

 

Thomas was booked into the Orleans Parish Justice Center for second degree battery and multiple other related charges..
