Suspects Sought in Theft Incident on Carondelet Street

The NOPD is seeking assistance from the public in identifying and locating two suspects who are wanted in connection with a theft incident that occurred in the 200 block of Carondelet Street.

The victim told police that on November 5, 2018, at or around 7 a.m., he was talking on the phone via wireless Bluetooth when he placed his iPhone on the counter while getting two cups of coffee. The victim stated that after getting the coffee, he entered the elevator, at which time his Bluetooth headphones disconnected, prompting him to return to the lobby. Upon returning to the lobby, the victim discovered his iPhone was missing from the counter area where he placed it.

During the course of the investigation, officers were advised that two unknown male subjects were observed on surveillance video handling what was believed to be the victim’s phone.

One of the subjects is described as a white male, wearing a plaid shirt with a khaki hat. The second subject is described as a black male, wearing a red shirt with white lettering.

The white male subject was observed picking up the phone from the counter and handing it to the black male subject. The black male subject then allegedly placed the phone inside his pocket and fled the scene.

Anyone with any additional information regarding this incident should contact Eighth District detectives at 504-658-6080. Citizens with information that can help solve crimes are asked to call Crimestoppers at 504-822-1111 or toll-free at 1-877-903-STOP.
