NOPD Seeks to Locate Suspect in Armed Robbery on Elysian Fields Avenue

The NOPD is seeking to identify and locate a suspect wanted in an armed robbery that occurred on November 10, 2018 in the 2100 block of Elysian Fields Avenue.

Through investigation, NOPD Fifth District detectives determined that the victim entered a store in the area to purchase goods. When the victim approached the counter, the pictured subject was in front of him attempting to make a purchase. The subject reportedly asked the victim for 15 cents, due to him not having the exact amount of change to complete his purchase. The victim informed the subject that he did not have the change. The subject then reportedly stepped aside and allowed the victim to make his purchase. When the subject saw the victim get change back, he stated to the victim “Now I know you got it!” The subject then allegedly lifted the right side of his shirt, revealing a black handgun in his waistband. The victim then gave the subject 25 cents, at which time the subject fled the location.

The subject is believed to be in his late 20s to early 30s. He is approximately 5’5” in height with a thin build. At the time of the incident, the subject was wearing a light gray hoodie with the hood placed on his head, black pants and a black cross-body backpack.

Anyone with information about this incident or the perpetrator is asked to contact Fifth District detectives at 504-658-6050, or to call anonymously to Crimestoppers at 504-822-1111 or toll-free at 1-877-903-STOP.
