NOPD Seeking Suspects in Hit-and-Run Vehicle Crash on Tchoupitoulas Street

NEW ORLEANS – The NOPD is seeking to identify and locate two unknown male suspects seen fleeing from the scene of a hit-and-run vehicle crash that occurred on November 13, 2018 in the 500 block of Tchoupitoulas Street.

At approximately 10:32 a.m., NOPD Eighth District officers received a report of a hit-and-run crash from an unknown citizen who reported that a red Chevy Impala was following him near the intersection of Decatur and Saint Phillip Streets. An Eighth District patrol unit in the area at the time responded to the call. Upon arrival, the officer observed the red Chevy Impala and attempted to make a traffic stop of the vehicle by activating his overhead lights and siren. At that time, the vehicle began to flee the area, striking one vehicle at the intersection of Decatur and Canal Streets and two other vehicles in the 500 block of Tchoupitoulas Street. After striking the two vehicles in the 500 block of Tchoupitoulas Street, two unknown black male suspects exited the vehicle and fled the area on foot in an unknown direction. One of the suspects allegedly dropped a black handgun during his escape. The car and gun were collected at the scene as evidence.

A surveillance camera in the area captured an image of one of the suspects who fled the vehicle. That individual, along with the vehicle, are depicted in the included photographs.

Anyone with additional information on this incident, the pictured vehicle or the two listed suspects is asked to contact Eighth District detectives at 504-658-6080, or to call anonymously to Crimestoppers at 504-822-1111 or toll-free at 1-877-903-STOP.
