ARRESTED: NOPD Apprehends Suspect in Illegal Possession of a Firearm

The NOPD has arrested Craig Ferdinand (DOB: 09-24-1984) after he was found to be in illegal possession of a firearm during an incident in the 3900 block of Downman Road on November 11, 2018.

NOPD Seventh District officers responded to complaint reported at the above location. Upon speaking with the reporting persons, the officers learned the arrested subject, Craig Ferdinand, had allegedly ran into the store armed with a handgun in his right pocket and locked himself inside, leaving the reporting persons outside. After a few moments, Ferdinand unlocked the door to allow the workers to re-enter, at which time he stated he was hiding from someone who was trying to harm him. Ferdinand then reportedly began to point the firearm towards the outside of the store. He did not point the gun at any of the reporting persons or anyone in particular.  A name check revealed that Ferdinand was a convicted felon.

Ferdinand was arrested and booked into the Orleans Parish Justice Center for possession of a firearm by a felon.

Anyone with additional information on this incident is asked to contact NOPD Seventh District detectives at 504-658-6070.
