ARRESTED: NOPD Apprehends Suspect in Aggravated Assault on Chef Menteur Highway

The NOPD has arrested Donald Butler (DOB: 05-29-1956) in an aggravated assault incident that occurred on November 2, 2018 in the 9000 block of Chef Menteur Highway.

Through investigation, NOPD Seventh District detectives determined that at approximately 11:40 a.m., Butler allegedly entered a business to which he had previously been forbidden to return. When directed to leave by workers at the location, Butler reportedly advised he would cut them. He then allegedly obtained a large kitchen knife from his black cloth bag. The workers fled the location and called the police. Butler was still found to be inside of the location when officers arrived.

Butler, found to still be in possession of the kitchen knife, was arrested without incident. He was booked into the Orleans Parish Justice Center for aggravated assault.

Anyone with additional information on this incident is asked to contact Seventh District detectives at 504-658-6070.
