UPDATE: Suspect Arrested in Homicide on Lafaye Street

Less than 24 hours after a homicide occurred in the 4900 block of Lafaye Street, the NOPD has arrested Jabari Emile Williams (DOB: 03-09-1991) today (November 5, 2017) on a charge of second degree murder in the incident.

At about 7:23 p.m. on November 4, Third District officers responded to a call of an aggravated battery by shooting in the block. Upon arrival, officers discovered an unresponsive male lying on the floor inside of a house and suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. The victim was pronounced dead at the scene.

As investigation into the incident progressed, Williams was developed as a suspect. Detectives were then able to obtain an arrest warrant for Williams on a charge of second degree murder.

NOPD Homicide detectives, working with Seventh District and Special Operations Division officers, located Williams at an apartment complex in the 12300 block of North I-10 Service Road today and apprehended Williams without incident. Williams will be booked into the Orleans Parish Justice Center on the aforementioned charge.
