NOPD Quickly Arrests Suspect in Armed Carjacking at Jackson and St. Charles Intersection

The NOPD on November 21, 2017 arrested Moses Emmanuel Simpson (DOB: 01-09-1986) only minutes after he allegedly committed an armed carjacking at the intersection of Jackson and St. Charles avenues.

At about 9:08 p.m., Sixth District detectives responded to the location on the armed carjacking call. Upon arrival, the victim told detectives that he had been robbed of his iPhone, wallet and Dodge Caliber vehicle at gunpoint by an unknown male. Minutes later, detectives were able to track the victim’s cell phone to the 2800 block of Livaudais Street. Task Force officers were notified of the location and a description of the suspect provided by the victim and proceeded to the location.

At about 9:25 p.m., Task Force officers advised that they had located the victim’s vehicle in the 2800 block of Livaudais Street and had apprehended a black male subject, later identified as Simpson, who matched the victim’s description of the suspect in the carjacking. Simpson was also found to be in possession of some of the items the victim reported stolen. Soon after, the victim verified Simpson as the suspect, at which time Simpson was arrested on a charge of armed robbery with a firearm. Simpson was booked into the Orleans Parish Justice Center.
