NOPD Investigating Sextuple Shooting on Burgundy Street That Left One Dead

The NOPD is investigating a sextuple shooting that claimed the life of an unidentified adult male and injured four other adult males and one female. The shooting occurred tonight near the intersection of Forstall and Burgundy Streets. The incident occurred on Saturday, November 11, 2017.    

Around 7:54 p.m., Fifth District officers responded to a scene of multiple victims shot in the area where a very large crowd was gathered. Officers were in the area and arrived to the scene quickly, where they found multiple victims outside on the street and sidewalk area suffering from an apparent gunshot wound(s) to the body. The victims were transported to local hospitals.

One of the victims died on the scene. The surviving victims’ conditions are unknown at this time.

Police have a person of interest in custody.

This information is still very preliminary.        

Investigators are currently in the process of gathering evidence and information to identify the person(s) responsible in this incident, as well as a motive.
