The NOPD is investigating a fatal shooting that occurred tonight (November 4, 2017) in the 4900 block of Lafaye Street.
At about 7:23 p.m., Third District officers responded to a call of an aggravated battery by shooting in the block. Upon arrival, officers discovered an unresponsive male lying on the floor inside of a house and suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. The victim was pronounced dead at the scene.
Investigators are currently in the process of gathering evidence and information to identify the person(s) responsible in this incident, as well as a motive.
No further information is available at this time. The Orleans Parish Coroner's Office will determine official cause of death and release the victim's name, upon completion of autopsy and notification of family.
