The NOPD is investigating a homicide in the 7000 block of Yorktown Drive.
At around 1:37 a.m., Seventh District officers responded to a call of an aggravated battery by shooting in the area. Upon arrival, officers discovered a male (7/22/1993) victim lying face down in the doorway of a residence suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. The victim was transported to an area hospital where he was later died from his injuries.
Investigators are currently in the process of gathering evidence and information to identify the person(s) responsible in this incident, as well as a motive.
No further information is available at this time. The Orleans Parish Coroner's Office will determine official cause of death and release the victim's name, upon completion of autopsy and notification of family.
