Suspects Sought in Armed Robbery on North Rampart

NOPD needs the public’s assistance in locating two armed robbery suspects and the vehicle they stole.

On November 28, 2016, at about 10:50 p.m., the victims reported that they exited their vehicle and were walking to their residence in the 3600 block of North Rampart Street when they were approached by two unknown black males on a motorbike. The two males got off of the motorbike and approached the victims. One suspect pointed a silver handgun at the victims and demanded their property.

Victim #1 gave the suspect his car keys and wallet, and Victim #2 handed over his white IPhone 5. Suspect #1 entered the driver side of Victim #1’s vehicle and drove away heading eastbound on North Rampart. Suspect #2 returned to the motorbike and fled in the same direction.  There was a third unknown black male who accompanied the two suspects but he did not make contact with the victims.

The perpetrators are described as black males, about 5’7”– 5’8” tall with thin builds. They appeared to be in their late teens or early 20s.  The victims were unable to describe the suspects’ motorbike.

The stolen vehicle is described as a blue 2016 Mazda CX5 with Louisiana license plate number ZPY318. A photo of a similar make and model is included.

If you have information about this incident please contact Detective Qualyndrea Jones or any Fifth District detective at 504-658-6050. Citizens with information that can help solve crimes are asked to call Crimestoppers at 504-822-1111 or toll-free 1-877-903-STOP.
