NOPD Searching for Vehicle Stolen in Carjacking on Sail Street

The NOPD is looking for a vehicle taken during a carjacking on Sail Street.

 

On November 9, 2016, the victim reported that he picked up an acquaintance and gave him a ride to the 7800 block of Sail. Upon arrival at the location, the perpetrator pulled a pistol from his backpack and demanded the victim’s wallet told the victim to exit the vehicle. He complied and fled the scene. The perpetrator then drove off in the victim’s vehicle.

 

The stolen vehicle is a black 2013 Nissan Altima with Louisiana license plate number ZQA247. It has a dent on the roof and the front bumper is pulled away from the body slightly. A photo of a similar make and model is included below.

Carjacking

Louisiana law states that Individuals convicted of carjacking shall be imprisoned at hard labor for not less than two years and for not more than 20 years, without benefit of parole, probation, or suspension of sentence.
