NOPD Identifies Suspect in Carjacking on Interstate 10 West

The NOPD has obtained an arrest warrant for Jonathan Williams (DOB: 03-28-1986), who is believed to have committed a carjacking on November 5, 2016 on Interstate 10 West near the Michoud Boulevard exit.

At approximately 10:50 a.m., Williams was involved in a crash and was determined to be the at-fault driver in the incident. He then exited his vehicle and begin walking west on I-10 West toward the Michoud Boulevard exit when a Good Samaritan stopped to offer assistance. Williams then allegedly punched the victim in the face and entered the victim’s vehicle. The victim attempted to stop Williams from fleeing in the vehicle and was drug several feet prior to letting go of the vehicle, at which point Williams fled the scene.

The vehicle in this incident has since been recovered. However, Williams is still at large and is wanted on a charge of simple robbery in this incident.

Williams is described as a white male standing 5’11” and weighing about 170 pounds. He is described as having black hair and brown eyes.
