NOPD Investigating Homicide in Fifth District

NOPD Investigating Homicide in Fifth District

The NOPD is investigating a shooting that occurred today March 18, 2024 in the Fifth District that left one person dead.

At about 10:31 a.m., NOPD Fifth District officers responded to a call of a shooting in the 1800 block of Charbonnet Street.

Upon arrival officers discovered an unresponsive adult Black male with an apparent gunshot wound. EMS pronounced the victim deceased on scene.

Investigators are currently in the process of gathering evidence and information to identify the person(s) responsible for this incident, as well as a motive.

The Orleans Parish Coroner’s Office will identify the victim and official cause of death upon completion of autopsy and notification of family.

Detective Rob Long is the lead investigator in this case. No additional details are currently available.
