NOPD Seeking Vehicle, Suspects in Fifth District Shooting Investigation

The NOPD is requesting the public’s assistance in locating and identifying suspects and a vehicle in the ongoing investigation of a shooting that occurred earlier today (May 17, 2023), at the intersection of North Claiborne Avenue and Congress Street.

At approximately 11:10 a.m., Fifth District Officers responded to a call of a shooting at the intersection of Gallier Street and North Claiborne Avenue and learned that a subject had sustained a gunshot wound to his hand. The location of occurrence was later clarified to be the intersection of North Claiborne Avenue and Congress Street.

During the investigation, the above pictured vehicle was learned to have been utilized by the perpetrators in this incident. The vehicle is believed to be a blue Nissan four-door sedan, possibly with an unknown Texas license plate, and was reportedly pursuing another vehicle in the area at the time of the incident. The victim is believed to have been struck by a stray bullet fired from the suspect vehicle.
