The NOPD is investigating a homicide that occurred this evening (May 16, 2023) in the 4100 block of Saint Claude Avenue that left one person dead.
At about 8:47 p.m., NOPD Fifth District officers responded to a call of a shot person at the location. Upon arrival, officers located an unresponsive male subject down at the location. The victim was found to have sustained a gunshot wound(s) and was transported to a local hospital, where he was declared deceased.
Investigators are currently in the process of gathering evidence and information to identify the person(s) responsible for this incident, as well as a motive. No additional details are currently available.
The Orleans Parish Coroner’s Office will identify the victim and official cause of death upon completion of autopsy and notification of family.
