The NOPD is investigating a double homicide that occurred today (May 12, 2023) in the 1000 block of North Claiborne Avenue.
At around 1:31 a.m., NOPD First District officers were notified of a shooting at the location. Upon arrival, officers discovered two adult females suffering with multiple gunshot wounds. EMS transported both victims to a local hospital where they succumbed to their injuries and were pronounced deceased.
Investigators are currently in the process of gathering evidence and information to identify the person(s) responsible for this incident, as well as motive. No additional details are available at this time.
The Orleans Parish Coroner’s Office will identify the victims and official cause of death upon completion of autopsy and notification of family.
