The NOPD is investigating an attempted armed robbery that occurred on April 28, 2020 in the 3300 block of Dauphine Street.

At approximately 2:30 a.m., the victim arrived at his vehicle to retrieve his belongings. Unbeknownst to the victim at the time, an unknown male was inside his vehicle as he opened the rear hatch to his SUV. The subject, who had been burglarizing the victim’s vehicle, exited the SUV armed with a handgun. The gunman pointed the firearm at the victim and demanded cash. The victim reportedly told the gunman that he did not have any money. The perpetrator fired his weapon several times at the victim as he fled on Dauphine Street towards Piety Street, but the gunfire did not strike the victim. The perpetrator then continued to flee on Piety Street towards the river.

The perpetrator was described as a black male, approximately in his middle 20s to middle 30s, standing approximately 5’09” tall and weighing approximately 160lbs. The perpetrator was further described as having a medium complexion and being clean shaven. The perpetrator was said to have been wearing pastel colors and a white fanny pack.
