NOPD Investigating First District Homicide

The NOPD is investigating a homicide that occurred this evening (May 8, 2019) in the 2700 block of Cleveland Avenue.

At about 9:53 p.m., NOPD First District officers responded to a call of a suspicious person in the area, which then became a call of shots fired. Upon arrival, officers discovered two victims - a female victim suffering from multiple apparent gunshot wounds and a male victim suffering from an apparent gunshot wound to the arm.

Both victims were transported to a nearby hospital, where the female victim was later pronounced dead.

Investigators are currently in the process of gathering evidence and information to identify the person(s) responsible in this incident, as well as a motive.

No further information is available at this time. The Orleans Parish Coroner's Office will determine official cause of death and release the decedent's name, upon completion of autopsy and notification of family.
