NOPD Arrests Suspect in Fifth District Homicide

Today (May 15, 2019), the NOPD arrested Corey Harris (DOB: 09-25-1999) in connection with the homicide of Tyneisha Muse that occurred on March 29, 2019 in the 3500 block of North Prieur Street.

At about 7:00 p.m., NOPD Fifth District officers responded to a call of a shooting at the intersection of North Prieur and Congress streets. Upon arrival, officers located a female victim lying in a prone position and suffering from an unknown number of gunshot wounds. The victim – identified on April 1 by the Orleans Parish Coroner’s Office as Muse – was transported via EMS to a local hospital, where she was later pronounced deceased. At that time, the signal for the incident was changed to a homicide. A second victim in this incident, a male subject, sustained a gunshot wound to the back and was transported to an area hospital via EMS for treatment.

Through investigation, NOPD Homicide Unit detectives developed Harris as the suspected perpetrator and obtained a warrant for his arrest. Harris was located by the NOPD Special Operations Division’s Tactical Intelligence Gathering and Enforcement Response (TIGER) Unit today in the 8500 block of North I-10 Service Road, where he was arrested without incident.

Harris will be transported to and booked into the Orleans Parish Justice Center for second degree murder. As such, a booking photo of Harris was not available as of this writing.

Anyone with additional information on this incident is asked to contact NOPD Homicide Detective Eric Illarmo at 504-658-5300.
