Suspect Wanted for Aggravated Second-Degree Battery, Criminal Damage on Chef Menteur Highway

The NOPD is searching for Jason Lacayo (DOB: 05/20/97) after he allegedly assaulted a victim using a metal pipe in the 13000 block of Chef Menteur Highway.

The incident happened on May 3, 2018. At about 4:30 p.m., the victim was in an argument with his girlfriend. The girlfriend’s cousin, later identified as Lacayo, intervened and reportedly struck the victim using a closed fist.

The victim then attempted to flee the location on foot and observed the suspect armed with a metal pipe. The suspect reportedly caught up to the victim and struck him in the back of the neck with the pipe, causing the victim to fall to the ground and lose consciousness.

The suspect then allegedly shattered the windshield of the victim’s vehicle using the pipe before fleeing the area.

Once located, Lacayo will be arrested for aggravated second-degree battery and simple criminal damage to property.

Anyone with any information on the location of the suspect should contact any Seventh District officer at 504-658-6070. Citizens with information that can help solve a crime are asked to call Crimestoppers at 504-822-1111 or toll-free 1-877-903-STOP.
