NOPD Searches for Subject Wanted for Simple Robbery and DNA Buccal Swab

Officers in the Fourth District are searching for Darryl Smith (DOB: 08-07-1974), who is wanted for robbing a victim who is confined to a wheel chair.

The incident happened on Friday, April 20, 2018, in the 3600 block of MacArthur Drive. At or around 12:30 a.m. the victim was approached from the rear by the subject who began shouting obscenities and striking the victim, causing him to fall out of the wheel chair onto the ground. The subject then removed the victim’s property from his person and fled the scene.

During the course of the investigation, Smith was developed as the perpetrator in this incident.  An arrest warrant has been obtained for the subject, relative to simple robbery and simple battery. Officers also obtained a DNA buccal swab search warrant for the subject.
