The NOPD is investigating a fatal shooting that occurred this morning, May 24, 2018 in the 3000 block of Touro Street.
At about 8:00 a.m., Third District officers responded to a call of an aggravated battery by shooting. Upon arrival, officers discovered the unresponsive body of a 44-year-old male victim lying face down on the sidewalk portion of a driveway suffering from apparent multiple gunshot wounds to the body. EMS arrived and rendered medical attention, however the victim succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead on the scene.
Investigators are currently in the process of gathering evidence and information to identify the person(s) responsible in this incident, as well as a motive.
The Orleans Parish Coroner’s Office will release the victim’s name and official cause of death.
