NOPD Investigates Homicide on Lafreniere Street

NOPD Investigates Homicide on Lafreniere Street

The NOPD is investigating a shooting that claimed the life of a male adult and injured a female juvenile. 

At around 5:19 p.m., NOPD officers working a detail in the area heard gunshots near the 1400 block of Lafreniere Street. Upon arrival, officers located an adult male victim in the middle of the street suffering from gunshot wounds. He was pronounced dead at the scene by EMS. Officers also located a female teen victim suffering from a minor grazed gunshot wound to the leg. She was transported to the hospital by EMS.

Investigators are currently in the process of gathering evidence and information to identify the person(s) responsible for this incident, as well as a motive.

No further information is available at this time. The Orleans Parish Coroner's Office will determine the official cause of death and release the victim's name, upon completion of autopsy and notification of family.
