Subject Wanted for Vehicle Burglary on Carondelet Street

The NOPD is seeking information on a subjected believed to be responsible for a vehicle burglary in the 700 block of Carondelet Street on May 12, 2017.

The victim told police that at about 3 p.m. on May 11, he parked his vehicle at the location via valet parking. At 8 a.m. on May 12, the victim said, he was notified that the rear passenger window of his vehicle had been damaged. The victim said that upon arrival at the scene, he noticed broken glass on the ground and the vehicle’s left rear window smashed. No items were reported missing from the vehicle.

A vehicle attendant at the location told police that while he was parking a customer’s vehicle, he saw an unknown black male with a black in color hoodie wrapped around his right hand. The attendant said the subject then dropped the hooded jacket and fled the scene southbound on Julia Street. The attendant followed the individual to the 700 block of Camp Street, taking a photo of the individual with his cell phone. The photo has been included with this release.

The unknown male was described as standing approximately 5'9, weighing about 185 pounds, between the ages of 55 and 60 and clad in a tan hat, green jacket, tan pants and white shoes.

Detectives believe the subject may also be involved in several other vehicle burglaries that occurred in the area on May 12.

Anyone with information regarding this incident or the pictured individual is asked to contact Eighth District detectives at 504-658-6080. Citizens with information that can help solve crimes are asked to call Crimestoppers at 504-822-1111 or toll-free at 1-877-903-STOP.
