NOPD Makes Another Gun Arrest on Bourbon Street

NOPD officers have taken another gun off the streets of the Eighth District.

At 10:40 p.m. on May 25, 2017, NOPD Officers Jordan Sherr and David Aranda observed a subject sitting on the steps of a business in the 700 block of Bourbon Street. The business owner had previously complained to the officers about individuals trespassing on the steps and in the doorway to the business.

Officers Sherr and Aranda approached the individual, later identified as Paris Lamotte (DOB: 10-5-91), and the man began to reach into his pocket. The officers detained Lamotte and discovered a handgun magazine in his pocket. When officers asked if he was carrying a handgun, Lamotte confirmed that he had a SIG P220 handgun with sixteen.45 caliber live rounds in his backpack.

Lamotte, of Amite, LA, was arrested for illegal carrying of a weapon and criminal trespassing. NOPD also confiscated his SIG P220 handgun, the fifth gun confiscated in the district so far this month.
